These instructions pertain to when the drivers or passenger's doors will not open when door is unlocked. The main cause of this issue is related to a combination of factors.

Note these instructions do not cover the event of a broken or heavily worn part within the door.

First thing to look at is latch pressure. Make sure the door did not get bent or out of its original shape changing how the door mates with the door seals. If door is contacting seal excessively it will increase latch pressure causing the internal door parts to flex more requiring more travel of the handle. But travel is not available due to handle bottoming out.

Simple test to check for latch pressure would be to push in on the door and then pull on the door handle to see if door opens. If so, you may have too much latch pressure.

If you find latch pressure to be an issue the door is fully adjustable up, down, in and out without any shims. Open the door and go to where the door hinge mounts to the front of the door. You will find four bolts. If you loosen all four bolts the door can be adjusted up, down, in and out. For example, if the top of the door needed to move in or out take and loosen both bolts on the upper hinge and just the upper bolt of the lower hinge. This would keep the door from moving up and down but allow you to tilt the door in and out.

Images of door hinge bolts. Note on the upper hinge you will see two shims. These shims are used to move the door back. To straighten door or make it square to opening shims can be applied to just the top or bottom hinge. Shim part #'s are F2277A-OO (1/16") or F2278A-OO (3/16"). If too many shims are added the door will start to contact the bolt heads of the striker.

Striker plate is shown in this image. Note mount bolts are slotted so striker can be adjusted up and down. It needs to be adjusted to line up with the latch of the door. Should be centered so the door is not being lifted or pushed down when closed.

Striker is always mounted so the pin is to the outside as shown in image.

In the event that the striker needs to be adjusted inward more there is an adjustable version available. It requires part #'s F1544A-OOF1545A-OO & U8531A-N. Qty 1 of each part per door. Adjustable versions are not typically needed. They door require a good locktite or the pin can roll and loosen when opening and closing door.

If latch pressure is resolved or not an issue but the door is still not opening as it should take and have door open and close the door latch of the door by pressing it inward. Pull on the inner handle so the latch opens. If it opens notice the travel of handle at the point it opens. Then close latch again and pull on the outer handle so the latch opens. Also note If it opens notice the travel of handle at the point it opens. They should be about the same. If handle travel is different adjustment can be made by:

Going to the inner pull handle shown in this image.

Remove the smooth plastic upper trim piece by sliding a flat object under it and prying upward. Should snap off easily exposing the two small phillips screws. Remove screws. Then pry outward on the handle at the bottom half. It will snap out and handle will slide down and out.

After handle is removed you should see two rods as shown in this picture. The upper rod has an adjustable coupler. Loosen the jamb nut and the long coupling nut can be turned lengthening or shortening the rod.

Make adjustments as necessary so the inner and outer handle open at about the same travel.

After adjustments are where you think they should be tighten the jamb nut and close the door and re-opening it by trying each inner and outer handle. You should also be able to add latch pressure by having window down and pulling outward on the door while opening door. It will be harder to open but should still open.

If neither of these adjustments resolve the issue you may have a bad part within the door that needs replacement.

To access parts in door, continue by removing the crank handle, inner door handle cover with lock slide, and the eight exposed philip screws of the inner door panel. From there inner panel can be removed accessing the internal door parts.
