Notes regarding shipment of batteries

Whether you purchase 1 or more all batteries ship on a freight truck. This would be a full semi-truck with 53-foot length trailer. Your delivery location must be able to accommodate this size delivery. Batteries will be on a standard size pallet. So, you must be able to unload the pallet from the freight truck. Worst case if unloading complete pallet is not an option the individual batteries can be taken off the pallet still in the trailer one by one.

New batteries do not come with a fill system or float switches.

Notes regarding float switches

If you are replacing the batteries for the first time or the previous replacement of batteries installed them, you will find float switches installed into the batteries. Earlier versions had one float switch per battery pack and newer versions have two float switches per battery pack. When water level is low in these cells the float switch is in an icon is displayed in the dash display to notify operator to add water to batteries.

Due to battery shipping circumstances batteries purchased from us do not have the holes pre-drilled in them or the float switches installed into them requiring the installer to drill a hole in the top of the battery/'s in order to reinstall these float switches.

The float switches will only fit into the exact battery manufactured by US battery e-ride part# U5611A-N. If your new batteries are different then you would just remove the float switches. System is designed so they can be removed and not used.

If you do have the same US battery e-ride part# U5611A-N then you can drill a hole in your new batteries to install the old switch. Removal of old switch can be done by just pulling up on switch. They are just held in by silicone. Below is a diagram showing the measurements for the center of the hole. Over the years we have had two different diameter float switches. So, you will need to measure yours and drill the hole to match it. Older version had one float switch in the battery pack and was 1 1/16" in diameter. Part# U5616A-N Newer version has two float switches in the battery pack and is 7/8" in diameter. Part# U5501A-A. If you have the older version, you can replace it with the newer version.

Method we use is a hole saw. Typically, the center may fall into the battery and can be retrieved with a needle nose pliers. Other small shavings of plastic may remain in battery as they will not cause any harm to the battery.

Notes regarding fill system

Batteries purchased by E-ride part# U5611A-N fit the factory fill system. It's a good idea to make sure you have the factory fill system. The hole spacing for these batteries is 2 9/16". Other batteries in the industry may have a 2 3/8" hole spacing which will not fit the factory fill system.

Over the years we have had two different kinds of fill systems. The older version is a gravity feed system. This had a tank part# U5614A-N to fill the batteries with water. The newer version is a pressure feed system. This required part# U5504A-OO to fill the batteries with water. If you have the old version it can adapt/flex to the different hole spacings without modification. If you have the newer version, you will need to make sure manifold's have not been changed. Part# U5503A-9N is the 2 3/8" and are all black. Part# U5503A-4N is the stock 2 9/16". These have a red stripe across the bottom. Not recommended but as always you can choose to not install the fill system on the new batteries.

Notes regarding battery post

Prior to 2025 model years, batteries installed into new vehicles were always what is referred to as SAE automotive top post. New batteries will be shipped with UT post style as shown below. Any other post style will not work with the factory battery cables.  Make sure the battery cables in your vehicle have not been changed. If they do not have the correct cable connection, you will need to purchase new battery cables or modify your existing ones.

Battery post on new batteries will look like this.
