KEY WILL NOT START TRUCK UNTIL BATTERY CHARGER IS PLUGGED IN
#1

This topic is for a EXV2 model built in 2024.

Battery pack is fully charged, turn key switch to run and nothing happens. Display is dark, main contactor does not pull in, no accessories function (fan, horn, lights etc.). Plug in charger and truck lights up and functions normally after disconnecting charging cord.

BMS Fault?

#2

Anytime the main battery disconnect is turned off or the battery management system issues an error code vehicle will need to be plugged back in to operate. In the event of either of these happening all power is lost. Plugging in the vehicle supplies 12 volts to the battery management system. It then checks the battery pack. If no issues are present the vehicle is allowed to turn on. Here is the process for checking the battery management system for faults - click here. Being this is a 2024 I would not expect any battery pack issues. Something that we can see from time to time is the 5 amp fuse in the F6 fuse location can get inserted incorrectly. This can cause this same issue. If the fuse is removed and looked at the legs of the fuse should be straight if. One if the legs is bend this is more than likely the issue. Straighten fuse leg and reinsert. Let me know if you need further assistance and we can get someone to take a look at it.

Removed the F6 fuse and found that the terminal for fuse leg was bent out of the proper position which allowed the fuse blade to slide over the side of the terminal and not into the socket. I was able to push the terminal into position with a small pick tool and get the fuse to properly engage the terminal socket. This seems to have corrected the issue. Thanks for the information.
